There isn't money left in most 2014-2015 science department budgets this late in the school year. For inexpensive chemistry lab ideas, buy my lab book Chemistry on a Budget for $20.56 at amazon.com or $23 at lulu.com. It will take a few weeks to get to you, so order now!

This book contains 13 labs using consumable materials purchased from local stores. There are two versions of each lab, one with a ten-question conclusion and one with directions for a full lab report. This way the teacher has the option! Each lab is two pages to allow for one two-sided handout.
Many College courses conduct Lab Practical Exams, where a student completes a Laboratory or various procedures and is assessed on the result of the laboratory.
Students may be interested in studying fields that require knowledge of Chemistry, for example, anything related to Medicine (doctor, nurse, drug research and manufacturing).
A Lab Practical experience may be eye-opening to both you and your students. You could grade with a rubric so that the actual result is only a small part of the grade, but recording and analysis of the results (including reflection) would be worth more points.
I recommend pointing out to your students that the grading at a College level usually is based on the result!
My lab book, Chemistry on a Budget, could be a source of several inexpensive activities for a Lab Practical exam. More information about the book is at the top of this page.
Labs from Chemistry on a Budget, such as Density of Three Liquids, Analysis of a Mixture, Catching Moles, and A Chemical Reaction, could also begin review for the Final Examination.
I’d love to hear about your experiences!
